Hyundai has introduced the refreshed version of its popular compact SUV, the new Hyundai EXTER, in India. Starting at 579,900 Indian Rupees, the vehicle draws attention with its completely revamped design and commanding road presence. Measuring 3830 mm in length, 1723 mm in width, and 1643 mm in height, the EXTER stands out as the tallest model in its segment. Furthermore, its 2450 mm wheelbase—the longest in its class—promises a spacious interior with ample headroom for passengers.

Advanced Technology and Spacious Volume: Hyundai EXTER Specs

The exterior design features modern details such as an enlarged front grille, 15-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, and a sporty wing-type spoiler. Moving inside, users are welcomed by a dual-tone cabin in navy blue and grey. Segment-first features like metal pedals, a sporty D-cut steering wheel, and a 3D carbon-patterned dashboard complete the vehicle’s dynamic character. Height-adjustable driver seats and adjustable rear headrests are standard across all trims, while the standard model offers a generous 391-liter boot capacity.

Tech enthusiasts will appreciate equipment like the segment-first smart dashcam, along with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support. For rear passengers, a Type-C USB port, over-the-air (OTA) map updates, and an offline voice command system supporting 300+ commands simplify daily use. Under the hood lies a 1.2-liter 4-cylinder Kappa petrol engine. Additionally, a twin-cylinder CNG (compressed natural gas) option is available; in this eco-friendly version, the spare tire is tucked under the chassis to preserve a functional 225-liter luggage area.

Safety First: 45+ Advanced Systems

Hyundai has prioritized safety, equipping the EXTER with over 45 advanced safety systems. Notably, 30 features—including 6 airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), and Hill-Start Assist Control (HAC)—are standard across all variants. Available in both manual and automatic transmissions, the top-tier trim reaches 941,900 Indian Rupees.

Launching in eight different colors, including the new Golden Bronze and Titanium Black Matte, the EXTER aims to dominate the urban SUV market.
